This book has depictions of depression, hopelessness, and trauma. There are topics of death, of dying, and the memories associated with them. Grief and loss. Both characters are dealing with internal struggles, and the human becomes rather volatile part way through, but he deeply regrets it shortly after.
Memory loss that may be unsettling for those who have trauma around dementia.
There is a memory of coming out as gay to his family that may be uncomfortable for some, but please be reassured that the memory does have a very happy ending.
There is OM drama relating to a past relationship from before they met, which our human battles letting go of while having little closure. He died, and everyone and everything he knew is gone in the blink of an eye.
